What got me into racing?
I’ve been a fan of racing for as long as I can remember - at 3-4 years old I was completely obsessed with V8 Supercars. My favourite driver was Mark Skaife!
From there, I started playing racing games at a very early age - starting with Trackmania Sunrise which had me absolutely hooked on driving games.
What is your goal for the two years?
From a sim racing standpoint, my goal is to develop my driving so that I can maintain my competitiveness. I really enjoy driving with BS+Competition, even if it means some late night racing! I am also looking forward to the Supercars Eseries and am working hard to push closer to the front, after finishing 8th in 2022.
For real-world racing, my immediate goal is to win the Aussie Racing Cars championship again in 2023. It’s a great category and one that I really enjoy competing in. From there, my secondary goal is finding the necessary sponsorship to make the step up to Super2 in 2024, which is the immediate feeder series for the Repco Supercars Championship.
What is your favourite race track to race on?
Definitely Bathurst. It has been a track I’ve spectated at many, many times, and now I’ve been fortunate enough to win races there in the ‘real world’, which is a feeling nothing else can match, and something I never thought I’d do. It’s one of the landmark circuits in this part of the world.
What do you love about your Next Level Racing products?
I bought a Next Level Racing GTelite sim rig in mid-2022 and it’s been a great product. I really appreciate the adjustability of the rig, and being so sturdy it fits my needs perfectly.
How is simulation helping your training?
Simulation is incredibly important for me. In fact, most of my prior experience before racing in Aussie Racing Cars comes from simracing, not karting as is common with many other drivers. The main aspect that I find sim racing beneficial is the mental side of the sport, which is absolutely critical. Sim racing helps to keep me sharp, so I can go straight out on to the track in the real world ready to go. While there are certainly some differences between sim racing and real life, for me it is as close as comparing different sims, with small nuances between the two that you need to adapt to as a driver.
